This portfolio, Women at Work, was completed as I travelled through Ecuador, Mexico, and Cuba. Since these countries are patriarchal societies, I became interested in the role of women as I visited different areas. I highlighted working women in shops, as street vendors, and in the home. Children also work, helping out their parents. In Cuba, I included women in music as this is such a large part of Cuban life. These are women of character, many who lead a hard life supporting themselves and often times additional family members. These photographs represent their struggle in these societies. I am very pleased to be sharing this body of work with the public at Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces from September 2 through October 15, 2016
